Hello y'all,
I hope you're all having a fantastic summer/autumn and are looking forward to another fun-filled year of archery?
I was just wondering what people would fancy doing next term, social-wise. There's going to be the obligatory meal, of course, but the location is up for grabs and I'm open to any kind of suggestions.
See you soon!
Fran

Well, there's a new York Sport club night, which would be good for a laugh if nothing else. So we could get a few of our non-teetotal archers and tear up the town of a wednesday night. It's apparently quite a cheap night, which is aimed at all the sports clubs. Could be worth a try, if there's a little bit of interest in it.

I got that email but to my eternal shame I have to admit I haven't read it yet. But yeah, that sounds good. Even the teetotal archers could come and take pictures - I think it would make excellent blackmail material, what do you think?

Cheap drinks + Sober photographers = a very bad idea...

Okay, so I've just had a look at that Sports Club Wednesday email that was sent out, announcing the AU's plans for Wednesday nights. Basically it's a huge piss-up starting in Derwent Bar and then continuing in town at Club Salvation (where is that??). At a first glance, it doesn't exactly sound like something your typical archer would enjoy, even the ones who do drink; the link to the Facebook event is here, so you can have a look and judge for yourself: www.new.facebook.com/event.php?sid=b379d40f373780afc861242d019b8439&refurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.new.facebook.com%2Fs.php%3Fsid%3Db379d40f373780afc861242d019b8439%26ref%3Dsearch%26init%3Dq%26q%3Dyork%2Bsport%2Bnight%26k%3D400000010%26sf%3Dt&eid=26880179428(Okay, so the link is quite long. Sue me.) However, I'm more than willing to give it a go, maybe not quite in week 2 - we don't want to scare any novices away, do we? Opinions, thoughts?

It'll be worth a try at some point, I reckon. If nothing else, it'll be good just because it's so different from what we normally do.
I think 'Club Salvation' is what's become of one of those crappy little places in town - it's Nexus or BPM or one of those ones that nobody ever cared about or went to. Except during freshers' week. Oh, and apparently it's not a religious club night, despite the name...

Yeah, let's give it a go. After all, what can happen despite people getting horrendously drunk and puking in the streets? ;-) Also, there's going to be Wiis in Derwent Bar and I reckon we can have some fun with those.

Well, I'm certainly in. We'll see who else is. We may even be able to induce some shiny new freshers, if any of them are that committed after one session...
Doors open at 6.45 and the film starts at 7.30. I suggest we get there reasonably early, because it'll probably be packed.
Shall we say meet outside PX001 at 6.45?

I can send out an email to the club or something at some point next week.

Me and Timothy thought it might be a jolly good idea to venture to Akbars... Maybe with newbies. Maybe not. Any thoughts?
