I was wondering this today... what happens if you leave your bow strung too long? I mean, leave a few days (weeks?) without taking the string off

As far as I know, nothing happens at all! I had my barebow strung in my room for about 3 months last year no problem.

I asked Smug about this last summer as I wanted to leave my bow strung in my room. He vaguely hinted that it might have some adverse effect, but either he didn't specify what it was or I'm getting forgetful in my old age...

Or it's just one of those things that you simply shouldn't do and no-one knows why.

Shouldn't have any issues with leaving a bow strung, many people do. Obviously leaving it strung will put more stress on the limbs and string than leaving it unstrung, but I should think it'd only make a difference if your bow had a problem - and I'd rather the bow threw itself apart when I was nowhere near it than when I'm at full draw!

If you have cheap wood-core limbs (read: Challengers or similar) they might well be slightly twisted. Leaving them strung could make it worse, but because they're pure wood limbs they're more likely to take a set... would you notice, probably not, but it's aesthetically not great.
