I agree with Fran. Ben, you can't just leave such a delicious potential insult hanging like that. Do the deed. We'll all club together to save you from Fran, if that's what you're afraid of.

You're all missing out on the sweet, innocent part of my personality, the one that's sensitive and loves puppies and stuff. ;D

What do you expect? She's German. It's more efficient that way. I was going to say the same. But the way I was going to say it...in my mind it went way over the political correctness line. Also, does that mean you're coming?

What is it with people thinking that I'm violent? I'm really, really not! Then why did your email say "Please reply to the threat on the forum"?

P.S. My last post was apparently made at 6:40am... I'd just like to point out that as a self-respecting first year historian, there is no way I was up at that time and so there must be a problem with my clock... That is all.

can't just leave such a delicious potential insult hanging like that "You can't expect to invade an entire continent and subjugate millions of ethic minorities if the trains are arriving at "about 7:30" can you?"

Oh, Christ, you actually made me laugh out loud. Does that make me a bad German, a I wonder?

This thread seems to have wandered a little off topic (unusual...), so I'd like to bring it back.
Jess and I were discussing Jumbos. We reached the conclusion that it's fine to go mid-week and eat all the mediocre Chinese food you can for a fiver, but it's quite different to do it on a friday night when it costs twice as much. (I would say stop me when I sound like a grumpy old git, but, frankly, meh.)
Anyway. There is another Chinese place, the name of which temporarily escapes me, on Charity Shop Street (aka Goodramgate, I think...). Apparently this place is very nice. What would people think of a change of plans? Also, Fran, how feasible is it for us to change like this at pretty short notice?

That's completely fine by me, I didn't know that it costs more on a Friday! If you give me the name of the restaurant on Goodramgate I'll be happy to change the booking and cancel the other one, but I need the name because I haven't got the time to go wandering round town at the moment.

After conferring with my colleague, it seems that the name of the good Chinese place is Red Chilli. It's also on George Hudson Street, just opposite Akbar's. But maybe we should scrap that since it looks pretty expensive... (spot the person who's received less than half of their loan for this term). The menu is here: redchillirestaurant.co.uk/manchester/menu2.pdf(I know it says Manchester, but they're a branch of the same place and the menu for York isn't up there)

So, what's it going to be? I'm not fussed about where we're going to eat, and at the moment it looks like we've got the choice between Jumbos and that more expensive place. *shrugs*
